The Museum, located in a heritage site of the highest order, the Romanesque Cathedral of La Seu d’Urgell, houses the most outstanding art collection in the Pyrenees. Inaugurated in 1957, it is the last diocesan collection formed in Catalonia. It has an outstanding collection of sacred art and liturgical heritage from the Romanesque period to the first half of the 20th century. The chapel of La Piedad, opened in 2022, recreates the Renaissance splendour in Urgell cathedral.
